Many of us on this forum lost a dear and trusted friend that day. Rene was strongly opinionated, but he never let his opinions get in the way of the facts.

He was passionate about sasquatch and was interested only in the truth concerning this hominid.

He was a generous giver of advice and time and sitting around with him while he smoked his pipe and drank a Keystone beer, one felt one was in the presence of an august sage.

He still had so much to offer when he succumbed to cancer and I just hope we all do him honour by being the best and most honest sasquatch investigators here in his home province.

The Sasquatch Returns to Harrison Hot Springs-Sasquatch Days Are Back!

HARRISON HOT SPRINGS, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwire – April 17, 2012) – After nearly 70 years, Sasquatch Days are coming back to Harrison Hot Springs. June 9th and 10th this historic event will bring the local First Nations Band Sts’ailes back to the Village of Harrison Hot Springs for two days of games, fun and excitement. This intercultural celebration will include canoe races, traditional salmon barbeque, medicine walks, cultural boat tours, arts & craft activities, games, entertainment and most importantly talks on the Sasquatch from Sts’ailes experts and local Harrison Hot Springs Sasquatch investigators.

Harrison Hot Springs Mayor, Leo Facio said, “The Village of Harrison Hot Springs is glad to see the Sasquatch Days on the shores of our beautiful community. We would like to welcome all visitors to Harrison Hot Springs to celebrate the cultural diversity of our region. Diversity is the commonality that unites as all, let’s celebrate it together.”

Harrison Hot Springs has always been a center of Sasquatch activity and little wonder as the very word Sasquatch derives from the Sts’ailes word “Sa:sq’ets” meaning ‘wild man’. The Sasquatch is sacred to the Sts’ailes and as the symbol of their people it is only fitting that this celebration stick with the name given to this very popular event that last took place in 1938.

This two-day event will begin at 9:30 am Saturday June 9th with a short procession to Harrison Lake Plaza where a welcoming ceremony will be held at 10:00. Each day will feature Cultural Boat tours, artisan activity tables, medicine walks and opportunities for intercultural sharing. Saturday morning the main event starts as war canoes gather for a friendly competition that will continue with final races on Sunday. Of course, no canoe race is complete without a traditional salmon barbeque that will take place Saturday afternoon.

The joint hosts for this event, Sts’ailes First Nations and the Village of Harrison Hot Springs, invite visitors to this unique event that brings two communities together in an opportunity to learn about the traditions of the Sts’ailes people and share cultural experiences.

The exhibit will open with the debut of Sasquatch in British Columbia: A Chronology of Incidents and Important Events, by Christopher L. Murphy in association with Thomas Steenburg (Hancock House Publishers, Surrey, BC). Both authors will be in attendance and will provide short talks along with David Hancock of Hancock House Publishers. A full complement of Hancock House titles on sasquatch/bigfo​ot will be available.

Scion Magazine Issue #2

Members of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club were recently interviewed for for an article appearing in Issue #2 of Scion Magazine, a lifestyle publication put out by Scion Canada.

“In Pursuit of Sasquatch” discusses the establishment of the Sasquatch as a definitive cultural icon of Canada, with a history of sightings that have taken place in almost every single province.

Club President John Kirk and Vice-President Adam McGirr appreciated the commitment to real journalism demonstrated by the Scion journalists. Interested in discussing both the facts and the folklore, they took the time to drive out to Harrison Hot Springs the day after our interview.

Like many who find themselves in legitimate Sasquatch Country, they found the land and its legends fascinating, which the resulting article reflects. Check out the complete PDF edition here, pages 27- 29.

John Willison Green is a legendary figure in the history of sasquatch research.  He wrote some of the most informative books on the subject and he acquired a database of sightings and encounters that is invaluable and unrivaled.  He documented the subject like no one else and corresponded with anyone interested in the sasquatch.   John’s contributions are well known; his epic tome “Sasquatch: the Apes Among Us” is the penultimate sasquatch book.  After many years of tireless interest and inquiry, it’s time to gather in John’s hometown and celebrate his lifetime contribution to our bigfoot world.

A Conference and Tribute Banquet at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort & Spa

The Sasquatch Summit will pay tribute to legendary sasquatch author and researcher John Green in his hometown of Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia.  Just 2 hours east of Vancouver, B.C.

The event will be a gathering of sasquatch investigators, authors and enthusiasts brought together to celebrate the life and contributions of John Green.  

Friday, April 8th will start with registration opening at 4pm, and continue into the evening with light snacks and a no-host bar at an informal ‘Meet & Greet’ reception. Later there will be Round Table Discussions with well-known authors and investigators, a chance to catch up with friends, and time to browse amongst the vendors tables.

The conference is scheduled for Saturday, April 9th from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm. The presentations will focus on local sasquatch encounters, the current status of research, and the lifetime involvement of John Green in regard to sasquatch investigation. John himself will participate in a question and answer session as well.

A tribute banquet will take place Saturday evening from 6:30 – 9:00 pm.   Unique sasquatch artifacts and evidence will be on display; rare books and commemorative items will also be available.

 Head out late Saturday night for an informal expedition or gather in the outdoor hot springs and enjoy the midnight air.

Main Hotel: $119 per night. The rooms found in the main hotel, which is the original structure built in 1926, are warm and cozy and are decorated in a heritage style. All rooms have different configurations, so please ask what the sleeping arrangements are when booking. (Example: some rooms have one double and one single bed instead of two queens.) **These rooms are excellent accommodations but have soundproofing issues. If you are sensitive to sounds from neighboring rooms, please be advised.**

West Wing: $129 per night. Featuring standard hotel rooms, the West Wing rooms offer views of the resort gardens or Harrison Lake.

West Tower $139 per night. The West Tower has superior rooms and features balconies that overlook the famous Hot Springs pools or Harrison Lake.

East Tower $149 per night. The East Tower is the newest addition to the hotel where you’ll find deluxe rooms with balconies. All rooms have a full or partial view of Harrison Lake.

 Cottages $139 per night. Drive up to your own comfortable cottage located toward the back of the resort. These cottages are pet friendly with no extra charges and include a bedroom with a separate living room that features a gas fireplace and fold out couch.
